I Have A Dream...

How do we celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.?
With M&M pancakes, of course!

We also talked about his legacy and how he changed the world for the good of all people.  We talked about how each and every one of us can do good things.  Each day.  Little things, big things…but everything we do can create a better tomorrow.

Thanks to Martin Luther King, Jr. our world now accepts people that seemed“different”…but we have a long way to go…
Martin Luther King, Jr. had a very special dream.
Well, Dr. King, I have a dream of my own…

I dream that one day my child will be seen as more alike than different…a world where people with disabilities are not “different” or “odd” or “strange”…a world that cares for each individual for what they can contribute to society instead of what they cannot.

Martin Luther King, Jr. has taught me if you dream big enough…big things can happen…but you can’t sit back and make them happen, you must act to make them happen.  Well, act I will.  Rick and I will walk in just a few weeks on Washington…for a brighter future…for a better tomorrow…not only for Kayla but for all of her friends, just like her, that have Down syndrome and other “disabilities”.  Will we make a difference?  Only tomorrow can tell…but if I change just one mind, just one opinion, I am changing the world.  Each person that is touched by Kayla is without a doubt changed…for the better.  So live big…hope big…dream big, friends.

And speaking of friends…we had a great time with our friends…Paul, Michelle and Sam…great friends, great company, great people, great food…

...oh, some really great food…and lots of it!  We are so fortunate to have such great friends…friends that care about us...and about Kayla.  They love our Kayla...and she loves them right back.  Doesn't this picture just warm your heart?

Oh yeah…and a little update…our Christmas decorations are almost all put away…It’s a slow process.  For some reason they seem to multiply.  You put one thing away and three others pop up out of nowhere.  How does that happen?  If I weren't afraid of using up my dreams on something trivial, I'd dream for a decoration fairy to come put everything away for me {wouldn't that be nice}...
